Appmusic

Smartphones and tablets can become versatile musical instruments. They open up accessible yet nuanced ways into making music with digital media, linking everyday devices with artistic practice.

At the centre are concepts in which mobile technologies can be experienced as instruments, production environments, and performative tools. This can involve both first approaches to making music digitally and more experimental forms of composing, improvising, producing, and sound design.

Depending on the context and format, different emphases can be set — for example on mobile composing and producing, on performative settings with smartphones and tablets, or on the use of app-based music in schools and cultural education. Introductory formats for teachers, music educators, and pedagogical professionals have also long been part of our practice.
